Out in the Wild Wild West

Kelly, Cassidy, Dylan and I left Dallas on Saturday morning and made it to the pitiful town of Dalhart, TX for the evening.  That left only about 7 hours or so to get to Boulder, which is always wonderful.  We were so hungry when we got there on Sunday afternoon, so we got ourselves ready quickly to go eat sushi on Pearl Street at Hoppa, one of our favorite Boulder sushi restaurants.  After our early dinner, we stopped by one of the Nepalese shops to get some Nag Champa for Sugaree.  A stop at Hagen Daz Ice Cream was then in order.  After strolling Pearl Street,  we returned to our normal spot at the Millennium Hotel...Sugaree out in the far side of the parking lot by the creek, and we got a room for a good night of sleep and a good shower.  The cannabis plant that we had found behind the bus near the creek last year had since been picked.

This morning, Monday, we awoke to a light rain in Boulder and packed our stuff to head to the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  It was a long day of driving and after three days, we have gone over 1,300 miles.  The good news is that for the most part, the long driving days are over.  Now, we can mosey our way up north at a comfortable pace.

As we left on this trip, I began reading John Perry Barlow's book, "Mother American Night".  It is only fitting, as today as we drove through many miles of seemingly endless Wyoming ranch land, much like what Barlow grew up on.  As we cruised across the beautiful landscape, I was again reminded how splendidly beautiful our great country is.  Today, driving up through the cool Colorado rain into Wyoming, I marveled at how fortunate we are to be seeing our country from this unique perspective.  At one point, near Jackson Hole, we stopped along with a group of other cars to take photos of a black bear, which was very cool.  We also saw lots of deer and a few antelope.
