Crater Lake, Oregon

We left Astoria around 9:00 am on Wednesday, July 4th and headed for Crater Lake in the southern part of Oregon.  Crater Lake was formed from a volcano about 7,700 years ago when the 12,000 foot Mount Mazama erupted and collapsed and formed a basin.  Over time, the basin filled with clear water and is now Crater Lake and is almost 2,000 feet deep, making it the deepest lake in America.

On the way, we stopped and had lunch with Cassidy's friend, Alexis, who lives in Salem.  She works as a waitress at a place called Taproot, which is healthy and good.  After lunch with Alexis, we stopped at War Mart.  While Cassidy and Dylan were in shopping, a woman named Faye Day came onto the bus while videoing on Facebook Live.  She said she has a show and wanted to feature us on it.  By the time Dylan and Cassidy returned, she was gone and they couldn't believe they had just missed a live taping.  We gave Faye our card, since she said she wanted to follow up with an interview of us.

We spent some time driving around Crater Lake and checking out some waterfalls.
